Promoting dignity, health, and opportunity
Our Story
Village Threads began not with a plan, but with an experience. During their travels in Africa, Jim and Peggy Jessmore were deeply moved—not only by the beauty of the land, but by the spirit of the people they met. Among those encounters came a quiet but powerful realization: many young girls were facing a preventable challenge that was affecting their confidence, their education, and their ability to participate fully in daily life. What stood out most was not hardship alone, but the strength, dignity, and potential of these young women—qualities that deserved support, not limitation.
That moment stayed with them, and what began as concern quickly became conviction: this was something they could not walk away from. Village Threads grew from that conviction—a practical, compassionate response supported by a growing network of volunteers committed to restoring dignity, building confidence, and expanding opportunities for underserved young African girls.

Our Mission
Village Threads is a grassroots humanitarian initiative dedicated to supporting young African women through sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions and reproductive education. Through volunteer-driven efforts, we fabricate and distribute reusable menstrual kits while providing practical, respectful education that helps girls understand their bodies, manage their health, and eliminate fear, shame, and uncertainty surrounding their menstrual cycles. Our mission is to ensure that young women are not limited by lack of resources or knowledge—allowing them to attend school with confidence, participate fully in daily life, and pursue their greatest potential. We believe that dignity, knowledge, and support foster self-worth—and that empowered young women become confident individuals, strong contributors to their communities, and future leaders.
What We Do
Each Village Threads kit is thoughtfully designed to provide a reliable, reusable hygiene solution using quality materials and proven construction methods.
Each distribution is paired with reproductive and menstrual health education, presented in a respectful and culturally aware environment that encourages understanding, open discussion, and confidence.
These sessions are designed to eliminate stigma and embarrassment, empower young women to manage their health, and support their ability to remain in school and engaged in their communities.
2026 Uganda Initiative
In 2026, Village Threads will deliver and distribute approximately 400 reusable menstrual kits—representing more than 10,000 individually prepared components—through volunteer efforts and donated materials.
These kits will be distributed in Uganda alongside in-person educational programs that provide essential knowledge, promote confidence, and support long-term impact in the lives of the young women we serve.
Our Commitment to Transparency
No administrative salaries or overhead costs are included in our funding needs. All organizational coordination, travel, and personal expenses are privately supported by the founders.
This structure ensures that 100% of contributions directly support program materials, delivery, and education—maximizing impact for the young women we serve.
