The Story Behind Our Logo
The Village Threads logo represents unity, dignity, and shared responsibility across continents.
The logo was created specifically for Village Threads and was designed to embody the mission, values, and people who make this work possible.
At its center stands the silhouette of a young woman—strong, upright, and confidently facing forward. She represents every girl this mission serves. Though faceless, she is universal, symbolizing resilience, potential, and the leadership that emerges when girls are given the opportunity to remain in school and pursue their future with confidence.
The vibrant fabrics and layered patterns celebrate both African artistic heritage and the handmade nature of every Village Threads kit. Every stitch, every piece of fabric, and every carefully assembled component reflects the countless hours contributed by volunteers whose individual efforts combine to create something both practical and life-changing.
Surrounding the figure are concentric circular patterns that symbolize continuity—the menstrual cycle, the cycle of life, and the enduring strength of women who carry families and communities forward. Their interconnected design also represents community itself: individuals joined together by compassion and a shared purpose.
The name Village Threads expresses the heart of our mission. What began with one couple has grown into a network of volunteers, donors, churches, civic organizations, schools, and friends. These threads now extend across states and continents, weaving together people who may never meet, yet share a common belief that every girl deserves dignity, education, and opportunity. Each thread strengthens the fabric. Every act of generosity helps hold the village together.
Together, these elements tell a story of hope. They reflect knowledge replacing fear, dignity overcoming shame, and opportunity triumphing over limitation. Most importantly, they represent girls who can remain in school, understand their bodies with confidence, and grow into healthy, educated women prepared to lead their families and communities.
Because it truly takes a village—and every stitch counts.
